To all who made this possible, and there's way to many people to thank,
a big thank you!!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure some of them would want to be mentioned since they maybe
running for reelection soon.
Everyone who worked and prayed to preserve this place... know in your
heart that it gives me hope for this civilization...
I want to thank the MCWD for taking these concerns seriously and staying
with it, without you this would not have been possible.
I would hope that this could be a turning point for MnDot, that being a
good and responsibly steward of the land and water is in all our
interests and further more ought to be part of their job description.
It's an honorable trait to know when to stop fighting.
I hope this does preserve the spring and that the water will be safe to
drink, because I want to take my nephew there when I am an old man and
tell him some stories and share some water. The gate better not be
locked.
In articles about the spring in the newspapers it always says something
like ....and native americans claim this spring to be sacred and this
and that.....For the record I recognize this spring to be sacred and the
water to be medicine...as in let your medicine be your food and your
food be your medicine.
I would hope and this is a big hope that with these good intentions
other good intentions would come about. There has been too much anger
for too long in this state about what happened a long time ago and
things that happened not so long ago.
My hope was shared by the late Governor Perpich, one of reconciliation
with the Dakotah.
I noticed the first special session in Minnesota was about the Dakotah
Conflict, 140 years ago the whites blew it and then ignored it since
because they could. well, imho isn't time to say something to each
other.
Like, I apologize, our ancestors did some bad shit and can we go on from
here with the intention of compassion instead of denial.
A little bit off the beaten path of mpls issues, David, pardon me, it
did go down around these parts............
Many Dakotah were incarcerated and died on Pike's Island so yeah I'd
like to see some closure.
Kinda heavy......
