Remember: our rules allow pointed disagreement, but require respectful discussion.

Don't let the critics get you down, Cam! Right now, our Muslim brothers
and sisters in Minneapolis are at a lot greater risk of getting hurt
than we non-Muslims -- the message of tolerance can't be stressed
enough.
America is united that Americans should be protected. Candidates asking
for that would be engaging in the ultimate empty photo op. Since Sept.
11, Muslims have had it worse in Minneapolis than the rest of us,
getting kicked off planes, crank phone calls, hate mail, etc.. Thus, it
is far more valid to stress their concerns. To pretend otherwise is the
ultimate phony relativism.
I, for one, am going to make my first visit to a mosque tomorrow under
the auspices of Cam and Patrick's event. If nothing else, I will learn
more about people in my community who are hurting. That's a good thing.
Terrorism is as much about spreading fear and alienation as it is about
bring death and destruction. Connecting with fellow human beings -
fellow Minneapolitans we don't know - is as much a part of the "defense
effort" as anything a citizen can do.
Maybe there are more things we as a society can do. But criticizing
people for doing one of the good things that needs to be done is, in my
view, defeatist and counterproductive.
