I finally figured out the Vickie Brock/Brian Herron connection. As I was
driving down E31st street, I saw a Brock sign in Herron's yard at 3109
Clinton Ave S!! Actually, it does concern me that Vickie worked so closely
with Brian - How much did she know & why didn't she do anything about what
she might have known; if she didn't know anything, why not?? I mean, there
was bribery, extortion and illegal drug use going on and Vicky took those
calls as aid.

Louis replies:

Its unfortunate that you have not sat down with Vickie to get to know her.
After tomorrow, she will gladly meet with you to determine what it will take
to get your support.

Further, the last time I checked, people involved in illegal activity don't
tend to broadcast their actions. And given the fact that the FBI has not
implicated Vickie, I would advise you, if you want to retain any
credibility, to not seek to smear her name with such irresponsible
suggestions and innuendo. I won't spend anymore time on this topic because
I understand how people judge the participants in arguments.

EY: I'd personally be interested in seeing the email that went to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] The FBI is I believe checking into the
computer used by Herron's office. They should also be able to get cell
phone records for both Brian Herron and Vickie Brock. Vickie took the call
from Basim Sabri when he was intervening on behalf of Selwin Ortega
(source: City Pages and Channel 9). Vickie read all mail going to Brian
-- I know this because she told me she read the CNIA chat messages -- which
went to Brian -- and did not also go to her.

Louis continues:

However, if you drove down Portland, Park, or Chicago, especially south of
42d street where 62% of the votes come from, you will see over 100 lawn
signs of people who have had their questions answered in a very close and
personal way as she knocked on every door in those precincts and we dropped
over 7,000 pieces of literature.

===========================================
Actually there are less than 100 Brock signs in Central -- the Lilligren
campaign did a count of lawn signs and there were around 75 Brock Lawn
signs. There were more Brock signs than Miller signs. However as the sage
Linda Higgins note: lawn signs don't vote.

Louis continues:

Your final point about outsiders deterimining the leadership of the ward
begs the question. If they are outsiders they can't vote tomorrow, right?
Sounds to me like the 3,000 people that we expect to show up at the polls
will make the decision. What do you think? But, again, as one of those
outsiders, I don't recall ever seeing you at a CNIA board meeting (I served
there), or a BNO board meeting (I was the President), or at the 5th avenue
cookouts, the baseball games, or on the corner talking to young men and
women about their future. This is just another way of protecting the
investment that I made over the last 12 years. Sorry to have insulted you
by staying involved rather than disconnecting. How can I do better?
======================================
Aw Louis, I'm not personally concerned about your involvement in Vickie's
campaign. I'm sure you do your best on this campaign -- and your vigorous
advocacy of Vickie speak well of her -- though it begs the question -- can
Vickie speak for herself on this forum?

I did note that a quarter of her named contributors (8) were Towing
companies. I thought that was rather interesting.

Meanwhile, I helped with GOTV calling last night for Lilligren -- and our
supporters were commenting about how well organized this campaign was.

Also worth noting: Vickie Brock stated at the Youth Forum that she would
definitely vote against Jackie Cherryhomes for Council President. I'd like
to challenge Vickie Brock to say this directly in writing here on the
Minneapolis Issues list.

David Wilson writes:

All I can say to this type of racist propoganda is to reread some of
Joseph Goebbel's(sp?) rants from the 1930's in Germany. Our
correspondent, M A, uses the same type of unsubstantiated claims, finds
conspiracies, and blames others without any foundation.

EY: MA's rhetoric is a bit strange -- but I get a good laugh out of
rhetoric like this -- I don't take it too seriously. I think MA's rhetoric
-- and Wizard's and Dyna's regarding the Mayor and racism has been
counterproductive to SSB's cause. It's also worth noting that MA supports
Vickie Brock.

Regarding the Wellstone "endorsement" of SSB -- Carol Becker's defense of
that was pretty weak. Usually Carol does much better. Any politician or
political operative knows what "endorsement" means in the political sense
-- and if Wellstone didn't give permission for his name to be used in this
way, SSB should not have used it. I appreciate David Lillihaug clarifying
this on the list -- and Lillihaug definitely does have a direct line to
Wellstone, so he should know.
