I'm curious whether Rybak's campaign managed to register and bring new
voters in. His campaign may have done that. However, it's always
important for a campaign to target and communicate with those who "vote
early and often". It's important to look at the numbers -- precinct by
precinct -- and make sure to get voters out in the precincts where you do
well. Good voter id lists help.

I think the chaotic Lucille's Kitchen forum backfired on Johnson Lee. She
needs to distance herself from the rhetoric of those who call African
Americans who support Cherryhomes "house negroes". It reminds me of Barney
Frank (not the Purple one) who calls Log Cabin Republicans "Uncle Tom
Republicans". Natalie Johnson Lee is a smart, articulate and experienced
candidate. She should be elected because she is the strongest candidate
for the seat -- not because she is African American, and we need a token
African Americans on the City Council. If Natalie Johnson Lee gets
elected, she will be a force to be reckoned with.

As far as Stonewall DFL goes, Tim Bonham is perfectly correct in saying I
am not a member, and in some ways it's really not my business what they do.
I'd also like to say, that I've always had high respect for Tim Bonham and
the work he has done with building Stonewall DFL and the work he has done
to put the Minneapolis DFL on the web. His website about candidates and
rumored candidates was quite helpful to David Brauer when he created the E
Democracy candidate list.

I think the problem is, there really isn't an independent GLBT organization
that does endorsements. There is Lavender Greens, Log Cabin Republicans,
and Stonewall DFL. In my opinion, the Minnesota Freedom Pac, which Wally
Swan was instrumental in, is strongly missed. TC Quorum is considering
getting into this business -- and I think it would be valuable if they did.
I very much appreciated their public forums.
