I've heard the "I agree with Cam" or a variation, "I'm more able to
implement the 10 Principles of the Green Party" from Paul several times
in the campaign. It has been his strategy at least since June.

A few other interesting things going on in Ward 2. I see Paul all over
Seward, working tirelessly, knocking on doors. At the same time Cam
seems to have an army of very dedicated young people working for him
throughout the Ward. From Cole Avenue to the Stone Arch Bridge, this
crew seems to have been door knocking and inciting voters. The battle
ground in the Second are very fluid with Seward and Prospect Park voters
more likely to vacillate until the last minute - Marcy Holmes and Como
voters include large student populations who may or may not even make it
to the polls.

For some odd reason in this close race the Strib chooses to endorse Paul
because his "glistening credentials . . . ." Those credentials include:
a Harvard Law Degree, work at Dorsey and Whitney, teaching at the UofM,
23 years at the AG's Office, and living 29 years in his neighborhood. So
far I haven't been able to determine a single issue or position that
inspires Paul in his quest for Council Membership. I can't tell where he
stands on the critical issues facing the city like affordable housing,
living wage jobs, police/community relations, commercial/industrial
development, or infrastructure maintenance and improvement.

Cam on the other hand has been an active founding member of a robust new
political party in Minnesota, a leader in his neighborhood organization,
a middle school teacher at his local public school, a strong candidate
for the State House, an active participant in the City's Neighborhood
Revitalization Program in the Seward Neighborhood and a day care
provider. Additionally, Cam has worked with his supporters to develop an
excellent platform with concrete proposals, suggestions for future
direction, and clear focused positions. Reading Cam's literature and
listening to Cam's answers in public fora, I get the sense that Cam is
motivated by core values that include: a deep love of Minneapolis,
respect for the city's institutions, an honest desire to make things
work better at the Council level, and a belief in two-way communication
with constituents.

Perhaps the Strib endorsement is based on what's best for the Strib and
not what's best for the voters in the Second Ward.
