I agree 100%. The "citizen politician" is what the Founders & Framers
intended, not a professional ruling class - they had seen enough of that in
the monarchies they left. Elected office should be Earned, not "Entitled".

Just look at Tracy Nordstrom's opponent in Park District 6 - no need for a
platform or specifics, just vague pleasantries of "stay the course, we're in
office already". His predecessor held the office for 20 years!

Tracy, on the other hand, has worked hard for many years to earn the respect
of the voters. As a result of this effort, she won the endorsements:

* the Voters in the Primary
* many current & campaigning Park Commissioners
* many state and local elected officials
* DFL Party
* Sierra Club
* NOW (National Organization for Women)
* Labor (UE Local 1139)
* DFL Feminist Caucus
* Stonewall DFL
* and more...

She has a detailed platform listed on her own web site
(www.TracyNordstrom.com) and elsewhere (check out www.dnet.org for candidate
comparisons).

Politicians everywhere should remember it is a Privilege to serve, a
Privilege granted by a majority of your neighbors, not a right.
