Members:

Perhaps I did not make myself clear before:

Debating the personal facets of a member is a gross violation of list
rules against disputes of a personal nature. Members who engage in this
will be warned and then expelled.

I don't care if there's some speculative fig leaf that a member's annual
income or zip code somehow affects the worth of their positions. That is
a gross reach but more importantly, it is a dangerous precedent.

There are two major complaints I hear as manager of Minneapolis Issues.

One is that members often don't engage in respectful debate, opting for
pettiness and snotiness.

The other is that people feel intimidated posting their ideas to the
list because they will be attacked personally, not on the basis of their
ideas.

I am sure Ms. Heller can give as good as she gets. But she has not opted
to attack/debate individuals, and that is NOT what the list is here for.
If you feel Ms. Heller's posts have violated decorum, I'm happy to
entertain complaints - but not on the list, and not as an excuse to
one-up her by making her the issue.

After our rude election-campaign blowup this summer, list members have
generally debated with the decorum required here. It is a big reason why
the list is still growing (after the election) and why we are a place
people pay attention to.

I'd rather let members police themselves - but right now, we are
collectively slipping. Warnings will follow, and I beseech members to
begin disagreeing respectful and NOT personally, or we will have a few
fewer members shortly.
