I strongly disagree. A good library background is essential
to someone stepping into this position, particularly at a
time when MPL is building a new library and refurbishing
community libraries.

I don't think this is a question to ask. Our library does
not provide as much programming as is needed right now.  The
better question is how to raise the money to go forward with
a rejuvinated library system.

This is something like the question I've been asking: how
will the library get more lifetime library users. It is now
something less than 20% of the population who use the
library.  If we're spending $140 million (plus), shouldn't
the library attract a bigger segment of the population? How
can a new director make that happen?
