On December 27, 2001, the day after the
parking ramp editorial (http://www.startribune.
com/stories/561/920187.html), the Star Tribune
featured a front page article, "Sharon Sayles
Belton: A Mayor's Legacy" (http://www.startribune.
com/stories/462/923609.html), which continues
the Stribs unrelenting lauding of outgoing mayor
Sayles Belton's past priorities and
accomplishments including her serving
"all the people".

Concurrently, and conversely, this weeks
print issue of INSIGHT (http://insightnews.com/)
stated in its lead byline that "Concentrated,
persistent poverty among African Americans
in Minneapolis is the worst in the largest 25
U.S. cities." Included in the rest of this article,
are expressions of concern regarding the lack
of enforcement, by Minneapolis officials, of laws
that were designed to insure equal economic
justice for women and minority groups.

It would seem that some of our city's priorities
for economic justice were misapplied even
before parking ramp beneficiaries were
designated.
