Interesting. I think the vote putting Zerby on the Executive Committee over Lilligren (8-5 I believe) was stating something to Robert Lilligren. I worked hard on Robert Lilligren's campaign -- but I was personally disappointed that Lisa Goodman didn't win the vice president position, and Barrett Lane didn't get the Ways and Means chairmanship. Lilligren won the Vice Presidency -- and that's a plum for a rookie -- but he also paid high in political capitol. I hope he works at getting it back. Hopefully now that this whole leadership and committee chair squabble is over, the council can get together and work together for the city. Regarding Karen Forbes comment: Robert made it clear yesterday that he will not be anything > like his predecessor Brian Herron who rarely spoke up and just followed the > status quo. ============================= Herron was an ineffectual council member who was eventually indicted for extortion. I also got the idea that Herron never liked the political part of being a council member -- and that he only did it because he thought he could do something for the community. That's the wrong attitude -- if you don't like what you do -- then you aren't going to be successful at it -- especially in politics. Herron WAS very effective when he was the safe officer in our neighborhood. I supported him the first time he ran because I was impressed by the way he conducted himself as safe officer. The skills were not transferable to council member. Robert Lilligren obviously enjoys politics and is a hard worker. However he is going to need to work on his relationships with other council members (especially the incumbent council members) to ultimately be effective and succeed. Will therapy help this situation with the council? I'm not a big fan of group therapy for this type of thing. In politics, you just can't afford to hold grudges. The person that is your political adversary in one fight might be your strongest ally in the next.
