I agree with Fred. This is politics. These kind of situations go with the turf. If these folks want a warm and fuzzy work environment this is not the job for them. Reading the paper today I thought Minneapolis didn't look very good. I'm not sure the council even wanted this facilitation session. It's the mayor's idea. Let's take a page from St. Paul and get on with taking care of the big problems facing the city. As to CM Lane, I'm not surprised he got bounced from Ways and Means. First of all, it wasn't because he was an independent. This year's budget session, which had a tax increase, shows he just like the rest of the Democrats. His comment that "he was tired of being treated poorly by the rest of the council" sums it up. He has long had an attitude that he doesn't need to engage with the rest of the council and that he is "better". That is what got him bounced off of Ways and Means. Johnson on the other hand took the time to make an overture or talk to everyone on the council, old and new alike, and that probably explains her success.
