It was a good idea to try something different with the council members after
that first meeting. Consider that if the council members wage a war with
each other, the weapons they have at their disposal are our tax dollars and
public works.
Everybody knows that it's not good for the city if personal animosity
becomes the basis for public policy.

I agree - while I'm not a major supporter of "therapy" solutions, the most
successful businesses are those that handle internal stress & strife well
because then they are well positioned to handle external threats and
opportunities. I suspect the same is true in some form with the city
management. RT deserves credit for recognizing that, and hopefully the
therapeutic approach works.
Further, I hope Paul Ostrow learned something. As I see it, he tried to
persuade council members to sign on to his "list" through promises and probably
some strong arm tactics, peer pressure, etc. I do not approve of a "herd
mentalitiy", and that's what this feels like. Council members need to evaluate
each decision carefully. I believe that is what Johnson-Lee and Colvin-Roy did,
and Natalie's swing vote helped put both "sides" together to some extent, which
is important for a long term working relationship as well.
As for Barret Lane's attitude......well, I haven't heard comments like that
since junior high. Will he be "taking his ball with him as he goes home"?
Part of politics is winning some and losing some - I believe that how one
handles losing directly influences future success.
