In general I support later bar closing hours, but for those of us who live near bars (I live half a block North of Mayslack's and Knight Cap) I'd prefer to see these hours extended only on the weekends, as I wouldn't like to be awakened by whooping patrons at 2 or 3 in the morning on a weeknight.
(Having said that, I just remembered that I have an 8 a.m. Saturday class this semester!) The noise in my neighborhood has gone down; however, that could just be a cyclical thing. I have no objections to extended bar hours as long as the patrons of these establishments do not act in a manner that they wouldn't want me to display so early in the morning in their neighborhood. But when they come in from the suburbs I don't think that they have much incentive to show respect. 'Burbites and college students, I'm sorry to say, have been the worst offenders.
