David Piehl opines that, from the tapes the FBI released,
there was a mechanism which would be used to donate $800,000
in city money for Sabri to build a hotel.
First, this would not be the first time the FBI released a
tape or a piece of tape that was not the whole story, but
actually skewered the story to justify the FBI's
involvement. In the same rash of stories around July 17, 01,
the FBI also released the information that Herron had smoked
dope. However, the did not finish the sentence. Herron
admitted to smoking dope 25 years ago. All the pee in a jar
tests they've given Herron (weekly since the beginning of
this situation) were negative.
Second: the taped conversation with Sabri, which took place
in the Perkins at 60th and Nicollet, was a sting. Also on
the tape is the voice of Sabri saying that Herron was
talking very strangely-or words to that effect. Herron made
preposterous suggestions, Sabri one-uped him in absurdity at
every juncture. A sting, when proposed by law enforcement,
is not the same, supposedly, as the one acted by Paul
Newman, et.al. in the movie by the same name.
Zack Metoyer is right, there was no $800,000 nor would there
have been.
