Subject: Richard

I read with dismay your post on the "Issues" about Richard Rose. I had met and talked with Richard several times during political functions, and until recently was unaware that he was Arnold and Carolyn Rose's son. Carolyn had been my first advisor when I was attempting to become a Social Psychologist at the U of M. Only a couple of months ago during a conversation at one of RT Rybak's functions I suddenly saw Carolyn in Richard and asked if he could possibly be her son.  I can not describe the delight that I felt when he said yes. I now feel not only the loss of a friend but also of a contact with a past relationship.  While always in the shadow of Arnold, Carolyn was instrumental in creating minority relations as an area of study at the University and may have contributed more to the field than her better known husband. Richard always happy to be working on someone else's campaign also contributed a great deal to all who knew him.
