If you live on my street you never have to worry about being towed during
snow emergencies. Cars parked illegally are ticketed but NEVER
towed. My street becomes a maze-like during years of heavy snow with the
plow weaving in and out of parked cars. Yes, I have complained in
past years but no response. I guess getting towed depends on
where you park your car during snow emergencies. The funny thing is
that I would have thought the EMTs and firefighters would
complain because they respond to at least one call per day from the
nursing home next door.

emergency
I have to agree with
Jim one part of this. I do not want St Paul's system, I think it is less
effective in clearing our streets. I do think Minneapolis does a good
job, but I think we should have declared the emergency last night. The
main routes, which also tend to be snow emergency routes are in great
condition, thank you city. The side streets are far less
manageable. It is challenging getting into the center of the street,
parking, etc... because the side streets haven't been plowed yet from curb to
curb. This is attempted with the work our crews are doing, but won't be
very effective until tomorrow morning at 8 AM, actually 8 PM because you can't
park on that side until after 8 PM.
The final product of Minneapolis
plowing is always the best. I just wish we could utilize it in a more
timely manner.
Also those people that complain about getting
towed, need to pay attention. I have never been towed during a snow
emergency (that includes 4 years where I bused to work). It can be a
hassle to move your car, but that is our duty as citizens and
residents.

emergency
I was complaining to my council member last night about
Minneapolis's snow emergency policies. "St. Paul declared a snow
emergency already, why hasn't Minneapolis? That's the problem, it takes
Minneapolis too long to declare the snow emergency." We recalled Lisa
McDonald's complaint during the campaign, "How can they call it a snow
emergency if it takes three days."
Well, I take it back about St.
Paul snow emergencies. Although St. Paul declared one a day
before Minneapolis, the streets in Mpls I take were much cleaner and
safer than the ones in St. Paul. I take Hiawatha and Lake in Minneapolis.
Lake becomes Marshall in St. Paul, and it was much snowier, as
were Fairview, Minnehaha, and Snelling, all major routes in St. Paul.
So, I would advise the new mayor and council, "Don't copy St. Paul when
revising the snow emergency rules."
