Yesterday my neighbor rang my doorbell to tell me that a car had stopped in
front of his house and a women offered him about $20,000 more than his house
was appraised, without even seeing the inside of the house. His house is
not on the market -- he just happened to be outside. She was looking to buy
a house near a light rail station. I live about 2 1/2 blocks from the 38th
Street Station. My neighbor was pretty happy, he said "We're sitting on a
gold mine!"

My neighbor and I purchased our houses in Standish about a month apart just
2 years ago. At that time, even though light rail was approved, I don't
think many of us considered it when we bought homes in Standish. I wondered
what impact it would have, but at the time it seemed so far off. Now that
people can see the construction, it appears to be a factor for people moving
into the light rail neighborhoods.

Anybody else noticed this?
