Dear List Members, What I find to be so wonderful about this whole conversation is that FATHERS are weighing in on the quality time spent with their children. And though some things cost money, most of them are free. In this society, TIME is MONEY, so it is an investment well spent on the front end.
Continue enjoying the world through their eyes and their hearts. And as they grow older, remember that they also grow wiser. We adults may lose some of our supposed knowledge, so we better be paying close attention to the things they ask us and the things they tell us. And we better be careful of what we tell them, and sincere in our response to their opinions. And we need to know when it is time for the investment to pay for itself. In other words, when to let go and reap the benefits as they began to invest in the world around them, and subsequently their children... So...plan well for the future NOW. When thinking about the redistricting plans, think about how your thoughts and actions affect the smallest of our citizens, too. Think about what is fair POLITICALLY (incumbents listen) as well as COMMUNALLY (neighborhoods listen). There may be some paradigm shifts, but there can also be major good accomplished for vast majorities of citizens. What used to be does not mean it is lost forever. Before neighborhoods had boundaries people were simply good neighbors and concerned citizens. Think about the opportunities this can produce, and the relationships that may be forged, re-established and/or skyrocket in growth. It is not the end of the world, it is the beginning of a new one. Your children see the world as one big fascinating place with endless possibilities. See the world as they see it. Don't let it end at the so-called dividing line, nor with the council-member elect, or at the end of one's nose cut off in spite. You shouted "CHANGE" as you went forth to the polls in November. You got it. Now the ball is rolling. Pick it up and run with it. Trust me, the game of life itself is more intriguing than the Twins any day.
