Hello all. I took a trip along the Minnesota
River valley today... beautiful spring day. River flows
this spring are a far cry from those of last year-- ahhh, life on the
river! Returning to town this evening, I visited Lake Calhoun and want to
make it official-- the ICE IS OUT!!! ...and the kayaks were in the water
about 7:30 pm. A little remaining ice was blown along the E-NE
shoreline, but I'd guess the lake is over 95% open this evening (and
likely gone by tomorrow morning). So, I guess it's time for the ice out
get together... did I hear losers were to buy the winners beer? Was that
each loser would buy each winner a beer, or just what were the details on that
wager? I'll suggest Calhoun Beach Club on Lake Calhoun, or Loring Bar
overlooking the Park, or the Cabooze overlooking major light-rail development in
the former parking lot on the West Bank... also open to other suggestions--
maybe 5:30ish after work some night soon? I'll leave the details to
the organizer of this springtime
event, Barbara Nelson-- thanks Barbara.
