Please excuse the softness of this fatty topic, but seriously, what's up with Krispy Kreme? I mean, since when is the opening of a donut shop in Maple Grove such a hot scoop? I swear I've seen nearly a baker's dozen of theses stories in the Strib over the last several months. Can some knowledgeable person with years of experience purchasing baked goods explain to me why this is being covered so rigorously? Judging by the popularity of this joint, should we be anticipating the opening of one in Mpls soon?
