I live close to the Columbia Park/St. Anthony Parkway dog park, and LOVE it.
I was frustrated by how long it took to open that one, but in retrospect I
can see that I should be thankful. In addition to the Northside not having a
dog park, I've noticed that the inner parts of the city do not have dog
parks either. I think it may have to do with the criteria set forth by the
Park Board including a minimum size/area restriction. To me that seems
absurd. Afterall, I think an inner-city area would be one of the hardest
areas to get your dog safe exercise.

As far as people opposing the dog parks: I think you really need to visit
one, even if you don't have a dog. If you like dogs, you'll enjoy seeing
them run and play with each other. If dogs aren't your favorite, you'll
certainly appreciate the sense of community connection happening at one of
these parks. Imagine night after night 15-20 people gathered in one spot, or
walking the length of the park together, talking to each other and getting
to know each other! I consider it a definite added benefit for my community.
