First Tom, me and my family would be happy to join you in your walks along Franklin. I am hoping Ventura Village, East Phillips, and Midtown will join together to host a crime summit and invite every power there is to come and respond to the people in your neighborhood regarding their plans to address the escalating crime.
Even though I live in Whittier, my son attends school at San Miguel Middle School on Franklin and 13th. He and my neighbor girl who also attends the school have taken to counting prostitutes on their way down Franklin coming home from school. When I figured out what the two were up to giggling from the back seat, I was a little shocked. I thought back on my childhood and I know at 12 I didn't even know what a prostitute was let alone know how to pick them out and count them on a street I lived on. Unfortunately, that is the sad reality for kids in the inner-city. The child that sits next to my son at school saw the boy on 24th and Bloomington shot in the head. It's a harsh reality these children endure. Continue to update us on opportunities to help out in Ventura Village and Phillips.
