For those with an interest in knowing, we had a
fabulous turnout for the city-wide Arbor Day
celebration and Interpretive Center dedication.

On a day that wavered between sunshine and warmth,
overcast and somewhat cool - but always windy, more
than 650 people showed up!!! The park was teeming with
people and everything was planted well in time for
lunch. We did run out of buttons and thought we would
run out of food but were able to squeak by and
everyone had a great deal of fun.

The dedication for the Interpretive Center included
special recognition of Carl Kroening for whom the
Center is officially named. Recently we have also
learned that the Interpretive Center is the recipient
of the Heritage Preservation Commission's award for
Community Education. This is a tremendous honor.

Thank you to all who planned, participated, sponsored
and contributed toward making this event a success. It
is truly an event worth remembering. The North
Mississippi Regional Park has become the newest jewel
in the park system's riverfront development. Visit and
visit often!
