Minneapolis residents are invited to a presentation, Tuesday 14-May, on 'Living Water Gardens' at the Harrison Neighborhood Community Center, 503 Irving Av. N., Mpls (4:00-5:30 pm). This event is free and open to the public. Some attractive stormwater treatment ponds and raingardens have been constructed in Minneapolis. I especially like the ponds at the south-west corner of Lake Calhoun. And the new legislation on phosphorus is a great step forward. However, I think that we still need more public awareness, education and action on the issue of contamination degrading the water quality of our rivers, lakes, creeks and wetlands.
Living Water Gardens are a unique arrangement of water treatment ponds that blend the disciplines of science, engineering, art, landscaping, education and community.
