Hint for anyone looking for something fun to do outside on the next few hot days: Tube down Minnehaha Creek.
Canoeing and kayaking are also great but a plain old tube puts you right in the water without all the hassle. My family and I did it last Sunday and it was spectacular. The water is at what seems to be an all time high for mid summer....so there is a steady but manageable current. I went past parts of the creek tonight and the water still seems plenty high....which should make it good through at least the weekend if there is no rain. Everytime I do this I'm amazed at how wild parts remain, and a great mid summer treat is that there are tons of neon green dragonflies. It took us about two and a half hours from the city limits to the Falls. Best stretch for those wanting a shorter time is the area from about Penn to Chicago. R.T.
