I concur. Ahem, and how could Target management be so dense as to not know what the 
emblems meant? Why are they marketing clothing with symbols and sayings when they have 
no idea what they mean? Obviously they didn't care, as Mr. Rodriguez reports that he 
was "blown off" by the corporate office. Only when the Southern Povery Law Center got 
involved did they get the message. 

Racism in Minneapolis (and in greater Minnesota) is subtle and insidious and a big 
problem--all the more so because so many people don't want to talk about it, or 
acknowledge that it exists. I have observed that whites and blacks interact more in 
many areas of "the South" than they do in the Midwest, something that is supported by 
my conversations with people on the bus.

I receive the Center's Intelligence Report and Teaching Tolerance publications, and 
I'd be happy to pass them along to any List member or group who is interested. They 
are very informative.
