Wow. The sad thing is, I can believe it. I've heard
that in some parts of northernmost MN, an African
American can disappear and never be seen from again.

Here in east central MN, there was a road rage
incident on Hwy 23, where a white driver passed an
African American driver on the two-lane road. The AA
driver pulled up to the first car, pulled out the
white driver and beat her. A news account in the Askov
American began with this editorialized lead:

"A strange incident occurred on May 23 on Highway 23."

I couldn't figure out what they thought was strange:
that an incident of this magnitude had occurred in
this normally quiet area, or because an African
American was in this normally white area.
