Jenn: Metro Transit does a good job. And anyone who walks or drives a car around the metro knows that bike riders are out there doing potentitally deadly things every day. I like to ride my bike on back streets for the extra safety. There's a limit on how much you can segregate the classes of traffic, but since the Nicollet Mall was designed as a TRANSIT MALL, I think it best to stick with the original design. There are wide one-way streets that are better for bikes (4th and 5th come to mind). I do think a few streets ought to have bike lanes painted, but nothing keeps a car from crossing the line, so the bike rider simply has to make safety a priority
