Maybe we should stop trying to find a way to blame the victim here and
recognize that the world has lost a very talented young man.

Whatever the mistakes these young men may have made they in no way shift
the blame to them. Someone else pulled the trigger and someone is dead.

As much as we want to pretend that there was some error here that could
have been avoided and that we, ourselves, are far to intelligent for
this to happen, the fact is that this, or something like it, can happen
in a moments notice to any of us.

Just about two years ago I was waiting for a bus when someone stopped
and asked me if I wanted a ride. From outside the car it looked like
someone I knew so i hopped in. once in the car I realized I did not know
the guy and that I was in a very dangerous position. i was lucky and I
am still here, he actually just gave me a ride. Who know what would ahve
happened if I had not immediately talking about what time my dinner date
expected me and complementing him on his car, in very specific detail.
Of course it may have been a nice guy who just wanted to help. Either
way, if something had happened there would surely be people wondering
how I could have been so stupid as to get in a stranger's car.

In other other words, unless you were there Saturday night and saw
everything, beginning to end, don't assume anything.
