As the Star Tribune's endorsement of Scott Dibble for the MN Senate clearly describes, Roche's attack ads and literature about Dibble are misleading and "not pretty." Few legislators have fought public subsidies for the stadium more than Scott Dibble. Anyone who knows Scott Dibble understands the degree to which he believes in this issue. Ask anyone at Progressive MN (the experts on this issues who endorsed Dibble) and they'll say the same thing.
Rich Roche has loaned thousands of dollars to his campaign and is personally financing negative tv ads and direct mail in the final days before the primary. To my knowledge, Roche is not abiding by public finance spending limits, has not accepted a campaign public subsidy and, IMHO, is trying to buy this election - probably because he has such a little base of support for his campaign. Residents of Minneapolis, DFLers, and especially SD60 voters need to speak out against this type of negative, untruthful, attack politics. Scott Dibble has been one of the hardest working legislators and progressive community activists on transit, urban sprawl, civil rights, education and stadium financing. Scott Dibble has been running an honest, grassroots, issue-based campaign. Scott Dibble will make a great MN Senator and I hope he is elected to represent me. As a SD60 resident, I am outraged at Roche's behavior and hope all my neighbors will get involved and help Scott Dibble win this primary election. Since I am an active Dibble supporter and volunteer, I happen to know that anyone who wants to help him with your time or money can call him at 612-824-3823.
