Hello Folks, Jim Mork sez:
> Uh, real nice, Neal. But where pray tell HAVE > they been held to that standard? NL: Because you don't feel they have, that means you don't think they should be? I have a little > PROBLEM with the implication that this is a > standard to which we are holding Biernat. NL: I don't. Ethics are a standard. I'm not singling out Biernat, he just happens to be the one with his hand in the cookie jar. Your following analogy would be more germane if you pointed out I was advocating one offending council member were treated one way, or to one standard, while at the same time I was advocating that another council member in similar shoes were treated a different way, or to another standard. But I'm not. I'm suggesting we are on a slippery slope and it's high time we start to expect (maybe demand?) some accountability from the people we elect. > no, the standard is MUCH lower, and most people I > know have voted for mostly people who accept that > lower standard. For example, something like 48 > million voters accepted it with Bush. He has a > history of addiction and law-breaking. Plus he > is one of those corporate evil-doers. Yet weve > enjoyed a year of hearing about 80 or 90 > percent of the voters considering him > admirable. Now, you tell me in what way he is > superior to Joe Biernat. I cant wait to hear. NL: Bait and switch. Since 1) I don't see the connection between the 2000 presidential election and a Mpls council member admitting he took a bribe, 2) don't see how morphing into a discussion of the 2000 presidential election or Bush's past has *anything* to do with Minneapolis and 3) I'm not a Republican and have no interest in defending Bush, I'll pass on this one. Thank you for replying to my post.
