I would like to thank Peter for posting his accomplishments while on the
County Board to this list. I've never been a fan of Peter McLaughlin, but
I've never thought he was particularly stupid. Still, often campaigns do
use surrogates to do dirty work, and that if this particular dirty work is
offensive to Peter, I think it would behoove him to say so publically.

Actually, I see this list as better than the often scurulous rumor and
inuendo that goes around about campaigns. When people say things at a
party, or on the phone, they aren't in the same position of having to take
responsibility for them, as folks are, when they post to the list. It
doesn't take long to learn which people on the list usually get the story
right, and which usually get the story wrong. Incidents like this help
crystalize that.

True. I also tend to look at this list as more opinion than fact -- and
that the truth comes out by reading a variety of opinion on an issue.

I'll agree with Jim Graham's assessment of Eddie Felien. In my opinion, he
is abrasive, and the type of personality known as a pain in the a**. My
guess is there are people who would say the same of Jim Graham, and of me.
He is also persistant, and unafraid to speak out. I often don't agree with
him. However, I appreciate Eddie's campaign. It has been issue oriented
rather than personal. Eddie has also stated very clearly where he thinks
Peter McLaughlin is doing a bad job representing his constituents. The
stadium boondoggle is certainly fair game.

I would like Peter McLaughlin to defend his record specifically on the
points that Eddie has raised. That's great that Peter likes to ride his
bike. However, what I'd like to hear is some justifications for the
criticisms that Eddie has raised on this list and in the Challenger.

I'd also like to say, that if someone makes false statements about others
publically on the list, the person who is the victim of the false
statements shouldn't be expected to respond privately. I think Eddie
Felien's response was appropriate in a public forum.
