The image that many people have of the Riverview is "that troublemaker spot." But once upon a time, it was THE place to go. Since the Riverview is in the news by virtue of this housing project, I think it would benefit all of us to know the history, which is known mainly by Twin Cities African Americans. In Detroit, the new sports stadium was built on the former site of Paradise Valley, a thriving African American community in the 40s-50s. Many people had never heard of it until the stadium was built. Detroit has developed a troubling habit of demolishing its history; it would be nice if Minneapolis did better. Can anyone on the list provide a history or reminiscences of the Supper Club?
