Tonight’s the night:
GreenSpace Partners Green Tomato Cook-Off Thursday, October 17, 2002 6:30 – 8:30 pm Pillsbury House 3501 Chicago Avenue South
The event is free, and you need not compete to attend. We’ll have corn bread, coffee, hot cider, and lots of green tomatoes. Shoui Tsai will return to recreate the deep-fried green tomatoes he made last year. If he adds a stick to these gems, he could sell them at the State Fair. I’ve also heard stories about pies, chutney, and green tomato ketchup that will be making their way to the event this evening. And there will be a pile of fried green tomatoes coming out of the kitchen.
We’ll be there at 5:30 to begin setting up. If you’re planning to compete, and you’d like to make preparations on-site, we’ve got plenty of oven space and counter space, but a not much stovetop space.
