For some time, the Access Project excess proponents
have toted around a crude model of I35W at Lake
Street, depicting a few blocks in each direction. The
model, in my opinion, is very deceptive because it
contains models of buildings which exceed the size of
the Round-up building at 2nd and Lake. None of these
4+ storey buildings exist; most of the existing
buildings are single storey set-back buildings with
parking. The trees in the model exceed the height of
the 4 storey, sidewalk buildings. The size of the
buildings and trees in the model obscure the offensive
size of a widened Lake Street.

I have two questions; first, why, exactly, were the
existing buildings in the area not represented?
Second, is there a plan to build buildings at the
scale represented in the plan? If so, what happens to
existing businesses?
