I received an e-mail from Hennepin County Commissioner Gail Dorfman. She stated that there has been discussion regarding placement of this housing type in all of Hennepin County. I have no reason to doubt what she is saying. Gail has always been straightforward with me. However, in reading the minutes from the Hennepin County Shelter Advisory Board, they do not reflect any discussion about any area other than Minneapolis since January 2002. That is a far back as we have gone at this point. It is clear in those minutes that the recommendation moving forward to the city would remove this housing type as a category in the zoning code. Should that happen, this housing type would be allowed to locate anywhere in the city.
