This is flatly untrue. The Kingfield Board's initial opposition to the
Access Project is that we were not one of the neighborhoods included in
the process - until, surprise, they extended it to 38th (we had never
been involved, or invited, until after this change was floated.)

Then we appointed Jeanne Massey - one of the most decent, thoughtful,
far-sighted volunteers it has ever been my pleasure to meet. Her
integrity is unquestioned, and her rationality can be confirmed by her
posts to the list. What's more, when she approached us to serve, she
thought the board too hasty in its opposition. She also lives on a 3600
block - one of the prime beneficiaries of the ramp move. So much for her
being a NIMBY.

I think since Jeanne has been our liaison - for the past three years
since we were included in the process - we have let her lead us due to
her decency and fairness.

"NIMBY" is thrown around too casually in debate - it's a cheap way to
dismiss specific arguments without dealing with them, not to mention
sliming the accused's integrity. Equating Kingfield's opposition with
simply NIMBYism mean you will only allow us to support the project -
otherwise, we're selfish sellouts. It's simply not fair. I would not
accuse citizen proponents of being "shills" for the project just because
they may benefit.

I believe Jeanne's argument, and Kingfield's, is well-reasoned. I hope
we can find someone as calm, rational - and fair - to argue in favor of
the project here.
