The wonderful thing about city council resolutions that will be vetoed by our
mayor are that we get to talk about things that "supposedly" don't effect Mpls.
Well, I heard R.T. on mpr the other day.... which mysteriously has stopped the
"writer's almanac" by Garrison. MPR is pretty lame. But I'm not surprised......
Anyway, R.T. has footing for his argument, but I am happy that he has expressed
the opinion of many of our citizens.

I heartily agree that we should do something positive and declare our energy
independence. Spend some time so that though we do not have the means right now,
we will have some research on how we can generate our own power, generate ideas,
innovate, become as reliant on ourselves as we can possible be. Because if it's
isn't done now, when will we begin to plan for what must be done at some point.
Or will we continue to wring our hands that we are in these circumstances. If
cities all across the nation joined together, minds, bodies, dollars,
institutions, infrastructures, etc....twenty some other cities COULD pass
resolutions saying....
Whereas WAR is a grave matter, and that Just Cause has not been proven, whereas
war gives birth to more WAR,
......whereas we do not need your oil, and whereas we have come up with our own
sustainable power, and whereas war is inherently counterproductive.......we
wonder why it's necessary to put our children, our economy, and our future in
peril, we question the right to a preemptive strike. Whereas the only way to be
victorious over your opponent is to be victorious over war. And whereas you
can't fight City Hall...yada,yada,yada, .....gates of
hell...blah,blah,blah.........

On the 2nd of October I wrote that it would be prudent on behalf of the citizens
of Mpls, to say this is a dangerous thing. That the symbol has power. King
George is trying to tell everyone that this won't be about Islam, how naive does
he think we are, or is it him that just fell off the turnip truck... Of course
this will be seen by "the people" of the mid east as a holy war against them.
This is a bigger deal than we want to think.....but like everyone else we will
only do the right thing when we have exhausted all the other possibilities.....

Robert Yorga
St. Anthony West

"The tiny particles which forms the vast universe are not tiny at all.
Neither is the vast universe vast. These are notions of the mind,
which is like a knife, always chipping away at the tao, trying to
render it graspable and manageable.
But that which is beyond form is ungraspable, and that which is
beyond knowing is unmanageable. There is, however, this consolation:
She who lets go of the knife will find the tao at her fingertips."
