As some of our loyal readers may know, Skyway News and Southwest Journal are creating a "Thank You" section in our final papers of the year (Dec. 16 for Skyway, Dec. 19 for SWJ).
My concept is that we in the paper biz spend lots of time covering bad stuff, and some time profiling interesting people, there's no opportunity for people to publicly show gratitude to those who make the community better. Although I have beseeched readers for their nominations, I haven't asked my list friends for their nominations. If anyone is interested, please send nominations of 250 words or less to me directly at [EMAIL PROTECTED] We ask that the person you thank be in one of our coverage areas (Downtown or Southwest Minneapolis) or someone doing something city wide in Minneapolis. Please don't nominate family members, or anyone from our papers. There are a universe of people who could be thanked: Your caring neighbor A great volunteer A businessperson who makes the community better A public-service worker, cop, or bureaucrat who does a really conscientious job An elected official (from the heart; no sucking-up) Someone from the world of religion, or art ...or someone I haven't thought of. Thanks in advance, and with your help, we can showcase people in our community who deserve a little thanks!
