I wonder if RT and Olson will take heat for this
statement, as did Detroit Mayor Coleman Young in the
70s.
I kinda doubt that the law will allow the state or municipality to say that to imported gang bangers either.
In my estimation gangs are much more serious than a lot of rah-rah or even cops working their butts off 24/7 and taking greater risks. Unless we can manage to inculcate a different set of behaviors in succeeding generations, we will never be successful in lowering the number of gangsters to any significant degree.
The police are designed as a reactionary force, they are not set up to do a whole lot of that work, if any. The mayor has no discretionary income with which to work, or so he says. For that work, we have to rely on other entities. The older the person whose behavior needs to change, the longer it takes for that person to change that hopeless, self-destructive behavior.
I wish RT and Olson had not made such a careless statement; I suppose everybody gets caught with hoof in mouth once in awhile.
