If you've never been to Hollywood 2003, I highly recommend it. A
fabulous evening - the largest Oscars party in the country - right
here in Minneapolis. The money raised goes to a good cause as well.
District 202 has been struggling to support it's HIV prevention
program with the recent loss of MDH funding. Even condoms have been
in short supply. As a long time volunteer with the youth of District
202, I can vouch for the good work they do. I hope to see many
members from the MPLS list at the party!

Greetings!

Hollywood 2003, the Twin Cities official Oscar Night America party,
will once again continue its tradition of being the oldest and largest
Academy Awards party in America. I've just received my first batch of
tickets for this event, and I hope you all are willing to come out and
support District 202's HIV Prevention and Education program. District
202 receives 75% of the value of each ticket I sell. This event is more
important than ever this year since District 202 lost its HIV Prevention
funding from the Minnesota Department of Health beginning in January
2003. (Other organizations benefiting from this event are the Minnesota
AIDS Project, Open Arms of Minnesota, and Planned Parenthood of
Minnesota/South Dakota.) The date is Sunday, March 23rd and begins at
6:30 pm at the lovely Historic State Theater in downtown Minneapolis.

Come on! it's a fun event, and gives you a chance to wear those fancy
clothes that most of us here in Minnesota have stashed away "for a
special occasion." Well, this is it! So dust off those tuxes, shine up
those shoes, dig out those four inch heels, and get ready to make a
grand entrance! Join 2,500 other dazzlingly attired attendees and watch
the 75th annual Academy Awards on a movie theater screen, indulge in
scrumptious desserts compliments of dozens of the finest Twin Cities
restaurants, sip coffee courtesy of Sister Sludge, applaud live
entertainment by Twin Cities performers, and bid on exceptional silent
auction items you can't live without.

With celebrity emcees Harris Faulkner and Rusty Gatenby from Channel 5
Eyewitness News, and Miss Richfield from, well, ...Richfield, the event
promises to rival the glamour of the 75th annual Academy Awards
presentation in Los Angeles.

Tickets are $30 in advance ($35 at the door). Like I said, District 202
receives 75% of the value of each ticket I sell and we need every
dollar! You can make checks payable to MAP and write District 202 in
the memo line. (And if you want to buy a ticket but don't want to go
yourself, consider sending a youth from District 202! For information
about this, just reply to me at this address and I can process your
sponsorship donation. My e-mail address is [EMAIL PROTECTED]) You
can also check out http://dist202.org/special/hollywood.html for more
event details.

Reply to this email and let me know how many tickets you'd like, and
I'll send them your way (along with any additional information you need
about parking etc.) And thanks for your support of District 202!

Melissa Conway

p.s. Please distribute widely and thanks for your support of District
202 and the 1,800 GLBT youth who count on it!
