I somewhat sympathize with M.J. but with a couple of caveats.
Christmas Day is probably not the best time to record the performance of
a retail outlet of any kind. I'm sure the glitches you
encountered will soon be rectified . If not, I'd raise hell with management
as I would over unruly kids ( I too am from the era of ushers). The building
is VERY ugly. You don't see it when you're watching a movie so who
cares--also, whatcha gonna do? The Cooper was an abomination in style---I
miss it still.
Yeah, concessions are absurd but they actually have to be so. That's
essentiallly the profit margin at first run theaters in high rent districts.
The Heights and the Parkway can offer decently priced popcorn because they
look for the niche re-run and they're in lesser taxed locations .
Personally ( 'course I live downtown ) I welcome the return of the
downtown movie theater. I'll go backand bitch until I think they're getting
it right.

to the KFAI afternoon drive shows. Fats Domino is rollicking as I write this.
