I think Eric would have to mention more than
just one "other 'ahem' CM (who happen to white) who was involved in
bribery...". It is no secret that more than one of the politicians holding
office in the last administration were probably on the payroll or part of the
"5% club". Brian was just a little fish trying to emulate the big boys and
girls. The amazing thing was that Brian was considered one of the more honest
CM's at the time. I have even heard that he was set up because he did not "play
ball" as well as others. I still am amazed that the net that caught the minnows,
Brian and Joe, let the sharks swim free.
I wonder who else is now being compromised by the same people? The FBI needs to keep a close eye on presently sitting politicians to see who they ally with against City Policy and Ordinance. Any politician being overly "helpful" to some developer's interests would be a little suspicious to many people. Perhaps "RICO" should be looked at for those who have engaged in a pattern of such behavior. As for the prosecution, if the Feds don't get it to trial then Hennepin County will. Hennepin County Attorney Amy Klobachar, at a District 61 DFL convention, committed to pursue the case if the Feds were unsuccessful in their appeal. There were a whole lot of witnesses to that statement, and Amy is one of the few politician that we can trust to make good on her commitments. Perhaps Brian could start a consultant service to help "future" inmates from his time in public office. Brian got caught asking for a pork chop, while the people taking the whole hog have been let go to enjoy the barbeque. He could label his class as, "How to get the whole thing, then lick your fingers and lips before the Feds get there". He could get some of his old colleagues, (and mentors) in as guest "expert" lecturers. But then what is worse, having crooked politicians or dumb politicians? Seems like a hell of a choice we keep having to make. Jim Graham.
