I find it interesting & confusing that the MPRB plans to hold a series of
meetings that "will help us identify those services the MRPB provides that
the public values most, John Erwin, Commissioner At-Large". If this were the
case, why didn't the MRPB hold meetings with affected neighborhood groups to
discuss cuts in Park operations prior to those decisions being made? An
example would be the decision to turn off the Berger fountain in Loring Park
for this summer. Given a choice, I bet the residents of the Loring Park
neighborhood would have turned out to a meeting to suggest cuts elsewhere in
park operations that would have kept the fountain operating this summer!
Unfortunately, but as usual,  we were never given the opportunity to weigh
in on the decision before it was made. My guess is that the "focus group"
idea is just another ploy to give lip service to "community involvement" by
the MPRB.
