Just went to KMart's corporate website and saw their January
closing list. The four Minnesota stores are in Maple Grove,
Redwing, Shakopee, and St Paul. So, looks like I must have seen
the Lake Street store mentioned in something highly unofficial.
Funny. If they want Nicollet to be reopened, it would actually be
CONVENIENT for that KMart to close. But it must serve a lot of
people, so I guess remaining open is a very good thing, too.

Fiduciary controls:
Funny to hear a U student talking about lack of accounting
controls
in a neighborhood program. I wonder if the U has YET discovered
what it is spending all its money for. I'm a U alum, I give the
U
contributions, but I'm not sure I want the state anteing up more
money
until such time as the regents can force the administration to
explain
HOW the money is spent! Funny how so little has been written
since
the era of the big scandals when we learned the U had no real
accounting system. At any rate, it is a lot easier to see what
NRP money
goes for. There aren't constant lobbying efforts for more money
for
unforeseen expenses. But there will always be those who think
money
could be better spent. The question is for what? Our venture
capitalists
simply don't want the money collected. But they can't find a
place where
it doesn't happen. I'm curious how much money they'd make
leasing
property in a rundown city that made no efforts to renovate.
