In response to Mr. Snyder

As a person who is currently enrolled in the Law Enforcement program at MCTC I can say that we are taught that one of our main purposes is to protect the citizens of Minnesota. The training that is provided at the training center is adequate in my humble opinion. I feel that I will have received the proper training once I complete the program this July. If you want to look at training issues you should look at some of the police academies. In the state of Minnesota there are only three police academys: Minnesota State Patrol, St. Paul Police, and Minneapolis Police. If bad habits are to be learned they will be taught in the academy not at the training center. In order to become a police officer in the state of Minnesota you must go to school for two years and pass the Minnesota Peace Officer Standards Test. After passing the test your are able to work in the state as a police officer. Only the above mention departments require that you attend their academy before being hired as a full time police office. I can really comment on what I think should be done to stop rough housing by the police in Minneapolis at this time for various reasons, but I will say this. One person in our local government could stop police rough housing in heart beat. Just think about it, who do police officers fear the most? Hint in this case it is not the chief of police.
