Even arts advocates bristle when the stuff seeps out of the gallery and into the streets, alleys, and vacant storefronts.

While shuffling through recently revamped lower NE, complete with $450K condominiums, swanky bars and boutiques, I stopped in my tracks to study SEVENFOOTFOURFIVEHUNDREDFORTYPOUNDS of GIANT pasted on a boarded up storefront on Hennepin. What of this contrast? Do you move through this urban environment and feel persuaded at every intersection to turn in one direction or another, to act out of desperation, to dig into your pocket and acquire something you lack? Do you Obey?

Should Skyway news decline to cover the Shepard Fairey exhibit appearing in downtown Minneapolis at OP-OX gallery? What considerations are required in making the decision to cover the story or not? Maybe the editor can alleviate our confusion.

Confusion

Are the words clear or ambiguous? Specific or vague? Are claims and promises absolute, or are there qualifying words ("may help" "some")? Is the claim measurable? Or is it vague "puffery"? (laws permit most "seller's talk" of such general praise and subjective opinions.) Are the words common, understandable familiar? Uncommon? Jargon? Any parts difficult to "translate" or explain to others? Are analogies clear? Are comparisons within the same kind? Are examples related? Typical? Adequate? Enough examples? Any contradictions? Inconsistencies? Errors? Are there frequent changes, variations, revisions (in size, price, options, extras, contents, packaging)? Too complex: too much, too many? Disorganized? Incoherent? Unsorted? Any confusing statistics? Numbers? Small Print? Paperwork? Do you know exact costs? Benefits? Risks?

TEMPORARY REMINDER:
1. Don't feed the troll! Ignore obvious flame-bait.
2. If you don't like what's being discussed here, don't complain - change the subject
(Mpls-specific, of course.)
