Here's the bottom line: I hire good writers and when they are columnists (like Anna) I generally let them write what they think. I might not agree with every idea they have, but since I hire them for their opinions, I usually defer to them. (Digression: lest list members wonder why I am not always so magnanimous in interpreting list rules, it's because the list has specific rules and - aside from not making things up - opinion writing for newspapers has very few.) Of course we'll print Scott's letter to us, and any other viewpoints that may come along. For the record, on a personal level, I find the OBEY stuff thought-provoking but by now, not very. On a certain level, there's irony of people in several cities slapping the same labels everywhere. Sorta defeats the idea of unique, local, independent thought. PS Anyone caught plastering them on public places should have to clean them off - and an equal square-footage of someone else's graffito, too. PPS I also favor punishment allowing a randomly chosen citizen to spray paint their favorite tag/thought/concept on the graffiti artist's favorite something that he/she would rather not have graffiti'd. But that's why they don't let guys like me write the sentencing guidelines.
