My admiration for Natalie Johnson Lee continues.
And my disgust with the way police are allowed to conduct themselves in this city continues to rise.
Minneapolis is the city of "pick and choose" for many police officers. They decide when and whom they are going to hassle in the name of the law. The "law" is enforced more frequently against people of color and poor people.
For a citizen to question an officer who is abusing their power, the answer often comes with a threat of arrest or worse.
The Strib reporter making the twisted connection of Council Person Johnson Lee to Joe Beirnat is equally onerous.
Ms. Lee is an advocate and leader, one of the few in our city, who maintains her integrity and her voice. She deserves an apology from the police department.
