I don't pay the cops to eat, just as my employer does not pay me to eat. The cops should eat on their own time just as I do. I take a lunch break, and I think the cops should get one as well. Your argument that they are on duty and may need to rush off without finishing their meal doesn't hold all the water you want it to Russell. Cops should be given the ability to take time off the clock to eat, thus they would not be on call. My argument for this idea follows along the line that they are not on call 24/7/365. However, if you want your way in this, then lets hold their actions up to a higher standard since they are being given special privileges that the rest of us do not have. Ron Leurquin Nokomis East

So, your saying that if the police officers had to park like everyone else and an emergency call goes out to them and they have to leave immediately, having to take the extra time gettnig to their vehicles is ok with you? Not to mention, from what your saying is that cops shouldn't be taking a meal break, like every other occupation... I understand what your trying to say, but think about it further, if a police officer has to park his squad in a place designated like everyone else, it would take that much longer to respond to a call for assistance, besides with a city that has cut back on the number of officers on the street, having a squad car/officer presence in that location would be a good thing. If those officers were in their personal vehicles and parking in a no parking zone, I would understand your concerns which would be taking advantage of their authority while being off duty.
